The Wedding Present They'll be Thanking You For in 20 Years
FAQs

Is this couples therapy or counselling?
No. We're not treating a problem or working through relationship distress — this is proactive preparation for a relationship that's already working well.
It more like going to the gym, rather than the doctor.
Why would we need this if our relationship is already strong?
That's exactly who this is for. The couples who benefit most aren't in crisis — they just may not yet had the specific, sometimes uncomfortable conversations about money, family, or kids that tend to surface after the wedding, when the stakes are higher and the patterns are harder to change. Doing it now means fewer surprises later.
What makes BWD different from other premarital programs?
BWD is run by a qualified Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with a 25+ year background in funds management and finance — so the money conversation, in particular, goes into far more practical depth (joint vs. separate finances, debt disclosure, spending styles, financial planning) than most premarital offerings can offer.
The underlying skillset is also professional conflict-resolution training, not generic relationship coaching.
What topics do you cover?
core pressure points: money, kids, family, careers, and sex/intimacy. Sessions are structured around these, but we tailor the depth and order to what's actually relevant to your relationship.
How many sessions are there, and how long do they run?
[Insert your package structure here — e.g. number of sessions, typical length, single-session vs. multi-session options.]
Do we do this together, or separately first?
Sessions are done for the most part together as a couple and a little bit separately.
Will we be making lots of agreements in the session?
No.
The session is not about bringing the couples to agreement on matters. It is about presenting the topics that are most important, making sure they are aware that a discussion needs to be had top avoid , and giving them the skills to have a constructive conversation.
Is this a one-off, or do the skills apply later in the marriage?
We abolutely teach skills for life
Where are sessions held?
[Insert details — e.g. in-person Sydney location, online via video call, or both.]
How far out from the wedding should we book?
Anytime from the moment you're engaged up to a few weeks before the wedding works, though we generally recommend 3–12 months out, so there's time to actually put what you discuss into practice before the big day.
What does it cost? [Insert pricing/package details.]
Is everything we discuss confidential? Yes. What's discussed in session stays between us and the two of you.
Do you offer a free introductory conversation? Yes — we offer a short, no-obligation intro conversation so you can get a feel for how sessions work before committing to a package.
Getting started
How do we book? [Insert booking link/contact method.]
We were referred by our celebrant/lawyer/planner — does that change anything? Just let us know when you book — it doesn't change the process, but we like to know who to thank.
